Algae Carbon Capture Plant for Remediiate, Swansea UK
2022-Present

Remediate's expertise is in the groundbreaking culturing of natural microalgae enabling emitters of CO2 to transform their waste output into valuable Fish and animal Feed.  By deploying CO2-eating algae, they produce a tonne of feed for every 2 tonnes of CO2. (also producing 1 tonne of life-giving Oxygen).  Over several years they have developed their technology from the laboratory as they head towards gigatonne deployment. As the UK's leading builder of algae reactor systems, Remediiate chose Advanced Process to be their principle build partner for project Alpha. We designed, built and installed all reactors, tanks, and M&E systems including;

  • 3 x 15,000ltr stainless steel bio reactors

  • 1 x 30,000ltr Polypropylene/GRP holding tank

  • 2 x 10,000ltr uPVC/GRP RO water holding tanks

  • Multiple 500-2,000L Vessels

  • Carbon Dioxide injection system

  • Overhead gantry crane

  • Control Panels using Siemens PLC/HMI

  • Automated Plant Software

Chemical Dosing and dilutionfor DI Water Regeneration for VPI, Kent UK
2023-2024

Located 30 miles south of London on Kent’s Hoo Peninsula, VPI’s Damhead Creek provides the capital and South East with vital and flexible energy generation. The Damhead power station uses an efficient combined cycle system pairing two Mitsubishi 701F3 gas turbines with one Mitsubishi steam turbine. VPI Damhead Creek uses an air cooled condenser, has low water usage and discharge, and limits air emissions. VPI required both 48 % caustic and 96% sulphuric acid dilution systems to replace an aging system, crucial in the regeneration of their Dionized Water plant.

Advanced Process undertook the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of these new systems. As part of the project a 100kw in-line heater was also provided to preheat the dilution water prior to the injection of the sodium hydroxide into the caustic stream.  Socket welded 3000lb 316SS pipework was chosen for both the neat caustic and acid solutions, with PVDF being chosen for the more corrosive dilute acid at the point of dilution. The two independent systems were fully manufactured, FAT tested and pre-commissioned off-site at our Birmingham facility prior to delivery.

Algae Phosphorus Removal Plant for I-PHYC, Thurleigh UK
2023-Present

I-PHYC are a Nature Based Solutions Company. No chemicals are used in their sustainable water recycling process. I-PHYC have already partnered with companies such as Severn Trent, South west water, Wessex Water and now Anglian Water. Their unique system uses microalgae and cutting-edge technology to remove nutrients (phosphorus and ammonia) and other contaminants while locking away carbon and creating sustainable products from municipal wastewater. Advanced Process have been I-PHYC's principle build partner since their first commercial scale system back in 2021.

This latest system for Anglian water is the largest yet, designed to flow 22,000ltr/hr. 19 x 13,000ltr Bio-Reactors were built at our Birmingham factory alongside a Control and Dosing Kiosk housing the 7 metre long MMC in addition to 6 Algae injection pumps, safely concealed within a polypropylene cabinet. Once delivered to site, our installation engineers will re-assemble the system and run the site pipework and terminate the electrical systems.
